A Weston, CT resident since 2002, HM Oliver principal Amabel Chan is a transplant by way of Texas where she attended Baylor University in Waco. While at Baylor, she studied Finance and went on to work as both an auditor and accountant for Fortune 500 companies like Chiquita and Exxon.

While not a designer by trade, Amabel has always had an eye for detail and style and decided to open HM Oliver in 2007 to put her aesthetic talents to work.

So what’s in a name? “I’m a single mother of four children: Henry, 18; Madeleine, 14; Olivia, 11 and Gracie, 6,” says Chan. “The time demand of the businesses have such a significant impact on my children’s lives…this is just one way of honoring them: “HM Oliver – Gracious Living”
